Maverick started playing drums at age 9, starting with field parade drums before graduating to snare. He started playing in local bands at age 13. Bands influencing him included Cream, Led Zeppelin, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, and Pink Floyd. Drummers he counts as influences include Frosty, Mike Portnoy, Danny Carey, John Bonham, Billy Cobham and Joe Morello.

maverick joined amphoteric in 2008. He also made an appearance on the bands' 2002 album, Rivers of Understanding, playing drums on the song, Thunder

Maverick uses Pearl and Tama hardware, Evans and Aquarian drum heads.

Maverick exclusively uses DW drums, Vic Firth sticks, Paiste cymbals, SKB cases, Vater Ear Protection, and Pearl Hand-Hammered Gongs.
